BAKERSFIELD, California — Kern County Auto Theft Taskforce arrested a man in southeast Bakersfield on Thursday in connection with stealing an expensive historic truck last week.
The Casagrande family asked for the community’s help in finding a 1936 Diamond T truck that was stolen in central Bakersfield on May 31.
The truck was bought new and has been in the Casagrande family ever since. Buttonwillow CHP found the truck on June 4 on Mirasol Avenue between Buerkle Road and Brite Road, just outside of Buttonwillow.
According to BPD, on June 7, Gordon Yates was arrested on E Belle Terrace near Cottonwood Road without incident.
Yates, 30, was arrested on felony charges of grand theft auto and possession of a stolen vehicle.
The truck has been returned and was not damaged, according to BPD.
